adaptable indelible

On this page in her archived blog, Julia talks about her own feelings about adapting the novel: http://www.juliadarling.co.uk/weblog/archives/archive-062004.html

I hearten to her words: “I ended up feeling that one had to not be precious about it, and to change whatever I wanted, but then that’s quite a broad canvas to work from”

and:  “you have really let go and invent new things, and not be too literal about the book. Nice to know what the story is though!”
